Athletic Testing & Performance Evaluation

Measure your power, speed, and explosiveness with Velocity Based Testing in Marylebone, London

You can't improve what you don't measure. Athletic testing gives you objective data on your power output, speed, explosiveness, and movement quality. No guesswork. No assumptions. Just hard numbers that show exactly where you are and what needs to improve.

I use Velocity Based Testing (VBT) and advanced performance assessments to evaluate your athletic capacity across multiple domains—strength, power, speed, mobility, balance, and coordination. Whether you're training for a specific sport or want to perform at your best, this testing gives you a clear baseline and a roadmap for improvement.

What Is Athletic Testing & Performance Evaluation?

Athletic testing measures the physical qualities that underpin performance in all sports and activities—power, speed, explosiveness, mobility, stability, and coordination.

I use Velocity Based Testing (VBT) technology from Output Sports to track bar speed, force production, and power output in real time. VBT sensors measure how fast you move a load, which tells me how much power you're generating, how explosive you are, and whether you're ready to train hard or need to back off.

This isn't just for elite athletes. If you train regularly, play recreational sports, or want to know how your body performs under load, athletic testing gives you the data you need to train smarter.

What I Test

Why Velocity Based Testing?

Traditional strength training relies on percentages of your one-rep max (1RM). The problem? Your 1RM changes daily based on sleep, stress, nutrition, and fatigue. Training at a fixed percentage doesn't account for this.

VBT adjusts in real time. If you're moving fast, you're ready to push hard. If bar speed drops, you're fatigued and need to reduce load. This autoregulation prevents overtraining, reduces injury risk, and maximises performance.

VBT also tracks:

  • Fatigue thresholds: When bar speed drops below a certain threshold, the set ends. No junk volume.

  • Power zones: Different velocities target different adaptations (strength, power, speed).

  • Progress over time: Track improvements in bar speed, power output, and force production week to week.

Elite athletes and sports teams use VBT because it works. I bring the same technology to one-to-one clients in Central London.

What You Get From Your Athletic Testing Session

Comprehensive Performance Report

Detailed breakdown of your power output, speed, explosiveness, mobility, balance, and strength benchmarks. You'll see exactly where you stand.

Baseline Metrics for Progress Tracking

Your initial test becomes your baseline. We retest every 8–12 weeks to track improvement and adjust your training.

Personalised Training Recommendations

Based on your results, I'll tell you what to focus on—strength, power, speed, mobility, or a combination. No generic advice.

VBT Profile

Your velocity-load profile shows how fast you move at different loads. This data guides your training intensity and volume for optimal results.

Who Benefits From Athletic Testing?

This testing is for you if:

  • You're training for a specific sport (golf, football, tennis, cycling, running, rugby)

  • You want objective data on your strength, power, and explosiveness

  • You've hit a plateau and don't know why

  • You're an experienced lifter looking to optimise training intensity

  • You want to prevent injury by identifying weaknesses before they become problems

  • You're competitive and want to know how you compare to normative standards

40% of my clients come to me for performance enhancement. They're not injured—they just want to get stronger, faster, and more explosive. Athletic testing gives them the data to do that.

How It Works

Step 1: Book Your Testing Session

Sessions take place at The Health & Performance Studio in Marylebone. Testing lasts 60 minutes.

Step 2: Complete the Assessment

I'll guide you through a series of tests—VBT on key lifts, jump tests, mobility screens, balance assessments, and sport-specific evaluations if relevant.

Step 3: Review Your Results

I'll explain your data, show you where your strengths and weaknesses are, and outline what needs to change.

Step 4: Start Your Training Program

If you continue with one-to-one training, I'll use your VBT data to guide every session. If you prefer to work independently, I'll provide a detailed program based on your results.
